Syrians in Colombia - Tunja City

Según el diario Boyacá 7 dias del centro de Colombia durante el 2011, 2012 y 2013 mas de 1000 sirios han llegado a la ciudad de Tunja, capital del departamento, apacible ciudad andina, huyendo de la guerra civil siria.

Las principales ciudades de origen: Damasco y Aleppo, algunos ya expresan su intención de construir una mezquita en la zona sur de Tunja inspirada en la arquitectura de los Omeyas. Esta comunidad que empieza a crecer en la cima de los andes orientales de Colombia, quiere evolucionar a partir de la construcción de sus propios espacios religiosos, y mas adelante quieren construir un centro comunitario y una escuela.
